What I found buried in my wall - and why it matters

While renovating my old farmhouse, I found a 114-year-old magazine from October 1910 tucked into the walls as insulation. As I carefully peeled back the pages, I had a profound realization—the woman who read this magazine did not have the right to vote.

How is it possible that her hard work mattered, indispensable for raising a family and farm, but her political opinions did not?

Standing in the same place where this woman used her magazine to insulate our kitchen, I feel deeply grateful that an article supporting "Feminine Patriotism" is now unfathomable.

We have the right to vote because many strong women from an earlier era raised their voices. This Election Day, we can honor that legacy. Your vote carries forward the dreams of those who came before and shapes the future for those who will follow.

Don’t let this moment pass by. Make your voice count.
